Official Omega SA
Press Release Bienne,
Switzerland (14 March 2008)--
Caterina Murino, the stunning Italian
actress best known for her sizzling performance as Solange Dimitrios in
Casino Royale, was in Jakarta to celebrate the openings of
two new Omega Boutiques on March 11th.
Ms Murino, who had already established herself as a star in Italy,
France, and Spain, made a memorable first impression on international
film audiences when she first appeared in Casino Royale
wearing a skimpy green bikini and riding a white horse.
Her appearance at Omega’s two newest boutiques was nearly as memorable.
She was on hand to help the prestigious Swiss watch brand inaugurate the
boutiques – Omega’s first in Jakarta – on 11 March 2008. They are
located in Jakarta’s newest upscale shopping centres, Grand Indonesia
Shopping Town and Pacific Place Mall.
Caterina Murino enjoyed her visit to Jakarta and to the openings of the
boutiques which aim to offer easier access to a more complete range of
Omega products for Indonesian enthusiasts of superb timepieces and fine
jewelery.
Ms Murino is not worried about the so-called “Bond girl jinx” – roles in
the iconic spy films seem to have shortened some actresses’ careers. The
trilingual star has maintained a busy filming schedule since the release
of Casino Royale and she sees the Bond film as a vehicle
which has enabled her to participate in a wide range of cinematic
projects.
At the Omega Boutique opening, Ms Murino mentioned that she is
particularly pleased that her Bond-based fame has allowed her to work as
a celebrity ambassador for the African Medical and Research Foundation,
a charity she supports passionately.
Ms Murino expressed enthusiasm for the range of watches and fine
jewelery offered by the Omega Boutiques.
In the past 160 years, Omega has developed a reputation both for
technical innovation and design excellence. The company is renowned for
its pioneering spirit – the Omega Speedmaster Professional is the only
watch ever to have been worn on the moon. Omega is also well-known for
more than a century of precision records and for its long history of
sports timekeeping achievements – including its role as official Olympic
Timekeeper, a duty it will assume for the 23rd time this year in
Beijing.
Omega also produces glamorous jeweled watches and is represented by such
celebrity brand ambassadors as Nicole Kidman, Cindy Crawford and George
Clooney. The presence of the two new flagship stores in Jakarta
indicates the growing sophistication of Indonesian shoppers and the
desire they have for luxury timepieces.
Omega was founded in 1848 and is a company of the Swatch Group, the
world's leading watch manufacturer. Faithful to its original pioneering
spirit, Omega continues to make technical and watchmaking history with
innovation in areas as diverse as sports timing, precision technology
and design - innovations that led to the conquest of ocean depths and
space.
Through numerous partnership agreements at the top level of competition
in various sporting disciplines such as golf, bobsleigh, yachting,
athletics and swimming, Omega has actively supported for many years the
ideal of perfection and precision. Since 1932 Omega has been the
Official Timekeeper of 22 Olympic Games, a role it will also fulfill in
Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010 and London 2012.
