Official Omega SA
Press Kit Bienne Switzerland (24
April 2003)--
Prestige Swiss
watch manufacturer Omega today marked the end of its promotional
activities surrounding the 20th Bond movie Die Another Day
by drawing the winner of its James Bond competition. Web surfers from
all over the world worked their way through a fiendish two-round quiz
for the chance to win the Omega Seamaster Professional watch that was
actually worn by Pierce Brosnan during the filming of the latest Bond
adventure.
A staggering 60,000 entries were registered for the competition on
Omega's Internet site, by far surpassing all expectations. Some 3000 of
these entrants were able to single themselves out as true Bond fans by
correctly answering all the questions, which covered all aspects of Bond
trivia stretching back to the very first movie. Omega President Stephen
Urquhart drew the winning names at the company's head office in Bienne.
The lucky winner, Mr Mark Rawlings from Helsinki, can look forward to
receiving the Seamaster Professional worn by Bond-actor Pierce Brosnan
during the filming of Die Another Day at a special
presentation in his home country. Even without the special gadgets Bond
relies on, the standard Seamaster divers' watch features such as water
resistance to 300 metres, unidirectional turning bezel, helium escape
valve and official chronometer certification make this unique prize the
ideal timepiece for all conditions.
The James Bond competition on www.omegawatches.com started in October
and ran for the entire promotional period of Die Another Day.
The quiz itself was just one feature of Omega's James Bond web content,
which included exclusive trailers and a summary of Omega's involvement
in Bond movies since GoldenEye. However, the James Bond
section on the website accounts for only a fraction of the 7,000 pages
of information available on-line from Omega, which includes the
company's complete watch collection (accessible by searching, browsing
or a special watch finder function), a worldwide store locator,
information on the company's history and its links with the world of
space, sport and the ocean, as well as a diary of Omega's numerous
events around the world.
Die Another Day

Seamaster Professional 300m
Standard issue for Agent 007 since the movie GoldenEye in 1995,
the OMEGA Seamaster Professional remains a classic watch - even without
the hidden extras that James Bond relies on. It is powered by a
self-winding mechanical movement (OMEGA calibre 1120) with a 42-hour
power reserve and an official chronometer certificate (COSC) that
evidences its supreme precision. The elegant design reveals features
that set the watch apart as a genuine divers watch - as the
"Professional" name suggests: unidirectional turning bezel with minute
markers on blue aluminium ring for measuring immersion times, a
protected screw-in crown and case back to ensure water resistance to a
depth of 300 metres / 1000 feet, a helium escape valve for use in diving
bells by professional divers and a special metal clasp that can be
extended for wearing outside a wetsuit. The clear dial has luminous
skeleton hands and hour markers to ensure optimal legibility, with the
wave imprint on the dial completing the diving theme.
