The first image at left, for example, is a tear sheet from the April 1996 issue of Golf Digest, page 65. The large photograph of Pierce Brosnan in character, wearing a tuxedo, is identified as "James Bond in GoldenEye," along with overwritten copyright information for Danjac and United Artists Corporation, 1995. To the right of it a graphic labeled "Omega Seamaster Professional. Self-winding chronometer in stainless steel, water resistant to 300 m/1000 ft." This watch appears to have a black bezel, and the dial color is indeterminate.
The GoldenEye Omega wristwatch is also referenced in a two-page spread as part of an Omega publication titled, Our Time with James Bond 007: Omega (second image). Again, the call-out image that appears in this section is the reference 2531.80 Seamaster — apparently modified with an illuminated blue light next to each hour marker; none of this is consistent with the film, GoldenEye. See third image.
Throughout the changes effectuated on the Omega SA website during Casino Royale production, the reference 2541.80 Seamaster quartz which actually did appear in GoldenEye was left off its "Watch Selections James Bond" page.
Fast forward to 2008. The Omega SA website now lists its Seamaster Diver 300 M reference 2541.80.00 (25418000) as the GoldenEye watch for James Bond. Image four is a recent screen capture of that page.
So the James Bond wristwatch researcher is left with two distinctly different impressions with regard to identification here. Does he or she then rely upon that which was produced closer to the release of GoldenEye, or the more recent claim made after the opportunity for scrutiny across time?
There's no universal answer here.
