COSC Certificate for my Omega "Casino Royale"

Formal Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres test results

With its usual great attention to after sales customer response, Omega SA delivered by mail today the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (or, "COSC") test data certificate specific to my 2907.50.91 "Casino Royale" Limited Series Planet Ocean.

This document is available to all owners who purchase their watches from Authorized Dealers, by providing copies of legitimate purchase information and a copy of the Chronometer Certificate card specific to your piece.

Several of the numbers have been obscured for privacy. However, the one that is most important matches the serial number behind the 7 o'clock lug on your watch and appears on this certificate at the upper right, labeled "Movement." The matrix in the middle shows all data collected during the 15-day test of this movement, before it was put into my watch.

My particular test was run on June 24 of this year, and the certificate was printed on December 5, 2006.

It's more than suitable for framing or display, A4 format.

If you haven't already put in your request, it's doubtful you'll receive your certificate before the new year. Having kept careful track of this sequence for myself, I first provided all documentation to Omega SA with my request on December 1. Omega then confirmed back to me on December 11 (Monday of this week) that the certificate had been mailed.

Now − although I'd never claim it anything more than anecdotal − it will be interesting to compare these numbers to those on the certificate for my Omega 2531.80 Seamaster. The caliber 1120 escapement has been a cornerstone of the Omega line for many years, and the co-axial movement here is intended not just to put Omega SA back in manufacture status, but also raise the bar considerably on maintenance intervals and precision accuracy.

Omega after-sales has also "exceeded my expectations" with another added delight to this mailing: The so-called "Casino Royale Omega Cast Booklet." It's a nice fifty-something-page piece with wonderful photos from the film and specific James Bond 007 watch models currently produced by Omega SA.

Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute certificates are available for all Omega chronometers, including its complete current James Bond 007 line. I've focused here specifically on the 2907.50.91 "Casino Royale" Limited Series Planet Ocean; but you should definitely inquire about film-specific extras for your 2220.80.00 "James Bond" Limited Series Seamaster.

I also remember when I received the certificate for my Omega 2531.80 Seamaster that that package included a number of medium-and post card-sized images of the watch, and of actor Pierce Brosnan in various promotional poses. So those sticking true to the actual models worn in Casino Royale, ie, the 2900.50.91 Planet Ocean BIG SIZE and the 2220.80.00 Seamaster, should watch for niceties as well.

Bottom line: Ask!
